Facebook has killed your designer – Rob Boynes
Words &&& Creative Ltd | 18/7/2015 | Tag: Creative Corner™ Talks
Ta-dah! Video highlights are now online! Be inspired, we are.
Rob Boynes is one of our all time favourite firebrands, his previous talks have been inspirational; ‘Beyond the Page, Beyond the Responsive’ to ‘Why the page is preventing innovation in magazine UX’. His talk for this months Creative Corner is aptly titled ‘Facebook has killed your designer’. A must attend for designers and those that employ designers. It is set to be a fully charged insight into how the increased complexity and reach of social networks and mobile ecosystems has lead to ‘superstructures’ that bridge the gap between the open web and the closed app.
What does that mean for design, a designer and your designer?
Will the rise of the social network ‘superstructure’ create homogenised design experiences across app and web. Google’s Material Design creates a manifesto for consistency “that synthesises the classic principles of good design with the innovation and possibility of technology and science”. Are we designing ‘machines for living in”? This months Creative Corner looks at the rise of distributed media, the erosion of uniquely designed spaces and asks how a future design language can be built that embraces human needs.
If you missed the meet-up don’t fret, the Creative Corner team have been at it again putting together the ‘Highlights from Facebook has killed your design‘. We hope you enjoy!
What you will learn
- Distributed media reduces the need for individually branded and designed spaces
- The rise of ‘superstructures’ means the adherence to design languages that synthesise human and machine
- The need for a post-modernist design language for web and app that focuses on the human
